• Controller modes and PID fundamentals

• Control objectives in refinery, chemical, mining and utility plants

Workshop: Identify process behavior from real plant examples and classify loop types.

Day 2: PID Control Strategy and Loop Tuning Methods

• PID algorithm structure and practical interpretation

• When to use P, PI, PID and 2DOF strategies

• Manual and model-based tuning methods

• Ziegler-Nichols, Cohen-Coon, lambda and robust tuning

• Setpoint response vs disturbance rejection

• Tuning for stable, fast and reliable loop response

Workshop: Tune flow, pressure, level and temperature loops using simulation cases.

Day 3: Control Loop Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting
